December 2016 Executive Roundtable

Our last roundtable of the year was took place outside of Jacksonville, Florida in Atlantic Beach. Hosted by OnForce, members from all over the state and world came to collaborate about challenges and opportunities from a range impacts including outsourced labor trends, government regulations, and the recent US election, among many others.

After SIA’s Board President Tom York and OnForce’s General Manager, Michael Anthony, greeted the group, Claudia Betzner, Executive Director of the SIA, led everyone in introductions and set the stage for the event. Michael, accompanied by OnForce’s General Counsel, Jenny Lee, then walked the group through the expected growth for the on-demand workforce and the benefits and risks for users and workers alike. The discussions continued after lunch, with Todd Bone, President XSi and SIA Board Member, and Joe Marion, President AscdiNATD, explaining recent government regulations around counterfeit parts and their dangerous implications. They implored participants to get involved, fiscally and otherwise, to help support passing bills that will protect our members and the industry at large.

The last part of the session was conducted in a roundtable format. Facilitated by Scott Swain, Chairman of Trident Computer Resources and SIA Board Member, three groups addressed questions about:

  • Impacts of the new administration
  • Emerging technologies that will present service opportunities for members
  • New service opportunities overall
  • International market changes and opportunities
  • Opportunities to improve the industry’s right to sell/right to service

The groups shared and discussed their findings with everyone, leading to engaging conversations and excellent fodder for the April 23-25, 2017 Summit.

OnForce topped off the day with delicious appetizers and cocktails followed by dinner.
