Cloud technology trends are a double-edged sword for hardware support companies. On one hand, edge/IoT/analytics in the delivery of support provides access to state-of-the-art and easy-to-implement solutions, such as field service mobility, remote diagnostics, service parts optimization (logistics), and proactive/preventative care through AI and cognitive abilities (I am sure there are some other acronyms we can toss in to that mix). This of course improves the overall productivity and efficiency of service logistics and field service operations — think faster, better and, in theory, cheaper service.
Alternatively, this same technology is lowering the demand for onsite field service events in general. These new technologies for “cloud” (think hyperconverged infrastructure or software-defined networks) can be supported remotely through virtualization and connectivity to those devices that have steadily increased, thus decreasing the overall demand for onsite field service. To achieve predictable and sustainable revenue growth and possibly profit margin, we believe support organizations can benefit from the strategies laid out in this webinar.
