New Directions for Service Industry Association
SAN DIEGO, CA., April 19, 2007 – The Service Industry
Association (SIA) today released the details of its mission
to create a forum where service partnerships are made and business
transactions are completed. This refocusing of the goals and
objectives of the SIA is a direct response to the changes in
the global marketplace and requests of SIA member companies
and includes a reformatted Executive Summit where “Forging
Service Partnerships and Alliances will become a reality,”
according to SIA President, John Rinas of Grumman Northrop.
Since 1986, the SIA has championed the causes of independent
high technology service businesses.
As the Industry has changed, SIA has evolved with it. The emergence
of high technology service as a major sector in the economy
and the renewed emphasis on partnering amongst service companies
and with their suppliers has been a major benefit to SIA members.
According to John Walker, President, Diebold ISS, “As
a direct result of our participation in SIA, we have been awarded
multi-million dollar contracts,” Rich Guglielmo, V.P.
and Principal AMCOR adds, “We have been a member company
since 1992 and have been awarded many contracts through partnerships
with other SIA members, our latest this year was $250,000”
SIA is pleased to announce changes to our membership requirements
to allow for fuller participation and representation from all
facets of the high technology industry to include manufacturers,
resellers, software developers, and other related entities.
Accordingly, the SIA Board has changed the bylaws to better
reflect the focus and direction of SIA and open the full voting
membership to all high technology organizations. In the past
you had to sign the Service Industry Association pledge of “open
market support.” While SIA continues to encourage an Open
Market Support, it is no longer a requirement to sign the pledge
for full voting membership. The full bylaws can be found in
the “about association” on the SIA website as well
as all other information to become a part of this high level
group of Service Industry Leaders – www.servicenetwork.org
The Mission of SIA is to serve as a forum where every member
can enhance their business and to take collective action for
the betterment of the industry whenever necessary. SIA enhances
the high-tech industry by promoting an open environment of interdependence
& co-operation between manufacturers, independent servicers
and users by providing value-adding solutions for customers.
The Service Industry Association is a non-profit association
of enterprises involved in the support of high-technology products
in the marketplace, represented by their top level executives,
whose role is to promote the best possible range of alternatives
& choices of services for those products, and support of
the customers who use them.
Regular membership within the SIA is open to all high technology
service and support organizations including manufacturers, resellers
and other related entities. For information on SIA go to their
website at www.servicenetwork.org.
